Experiences and Certifications
As a healer I have had varied life experiences which have prepared me to deal with a wide diversity of issues.
I am the mother of five grown children, grandmother of twelve, and great grandmother to one biological and four non-biological children. As a young mother, my husband and I owned and operated a motel for five years; I’ve also owned and operated a cleaning business. Cleaning, although considered a lowly profession, brought me in contact with professional people who changed my life, gave me direction, and encouraged me when I felt lost and unsupported.
I’ve been certified as a Drug, Alcohol, and Gambling Abuse Counselor since 1992, a certification that gave me much needed information regarding addiction, particularly since addiction was part of my family history. As a single mom, I owned and operated a daycare out of my home so that I could be with my own children as they were growing toward adulthood. For twenty years, I welcomed twelve children into my home Monday through Friday. I nurtured and affirmed hundreds of infants, toddlers, and pre-school children, as well as coaching their parents on more effective methods of parenting. During those twenty years, I obtained a Bachelors Degree in Behavioral Science/Psychology Option. I was then able to advertise my daycare as a preschool.
When I obtained my Masters degree in education, I taught Special Education for seven years, focusing on first and second grade children with autism. I gained insight about different aspects of Special Ed. I worked with students and parents from many different backgrounds, ethnicities, and cultures.
I obtained certification in Emotion Code and Body Code in 2018.
